The Story Behind the Craft

Water Water Everywhere was founded in October 1992 by Rhea Greenwell. After experiencing several business setbacks, Rhea was searching for a way to provide for his family when an opportunity arose to work in irrigation. With a background in mechanical engineering, he understood key principles such as pressure loss, flow rates, piping sizes, and water hammer—knowledge that would prove invaluable in designing efficient sprinkler systems.

The company began with a single residential job installing a sprinkler system on McNair Street in Decatur. That first project required redesigning portions of the system due to low water pressure in the area, but it confirmed that careful planning—proper pipe sizing, head placement, and water pressure—was essential for a system to perform correctly.

Starting with limited resources, Rhea purchased and rebuilt a used Ditch Witch trencher, repaired a trailer, and began installing systems on his own. Through hard work, reliable service, and attention to detail, Water Water Everywhere quickly grew. In its first year the company completed $60,000 in work, and business doubled for several years afterward.

As the company expanded, it began taking on commercial irrigation projects, including work in Huntsville, Alabama. One early large project involved installing 80,000 feet of pipe on a $240,000 job along Old Madison Pike. The company also completed irrigation work for commercial locations such as Red Lobster on the Beltline and projects throughout Research Park in Huntsville.

Water Water Everywhere built a reputation for dependable service, neat work, and completing projects on schedule. Over the years, the company has continued to grow through strong relationships with contractors, developers, and municipalities.

Today, the company’s legacy continues with the next generation. Rhea’s son, Patrick, later founded WWE, LLC, expanding the family’s irrigation expertise and continuing the tradition of quality workmanship.
